Cancelled – Meet the Author: Dervla McTiernan

March 24, 2020 @ 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we regret that we have had to cancel this event in the immediate term.

I’m very pleased to announce that we’ll be hosting an evening with Dervla McTiernan on the 24th of March. With her third crime novel, The Good Turn just about to be released I of course put my hand up for an event, hosted at Durty Nelly’s Irish pub. Since Dervla emigrated from Ireland to Western Australia in 2011, I think the option of a pint in an Irish Pub may have given me a slight advantage in the selection process.

I’m a big fan of her books, as those who have visited the store looking for crime books or subscribe to the newsletter will already know. But I’m certainly not the only one. Her approach to the police procedural crime story is one that avoids the tiresome clichés but keeps the things that make them fun and exciting.

So naturally I’m very keen to catch up with Dervla to find out a bit more about what’s behind them.

We’ll be doing a relaxed interview style event, just Dervla and I chatting about her books and writing and anything else that a Guinness or two may inspire. There will also be a Q&A for audience members at the end. The location is the Brew Bar of Durty Nelly’s Irish Pub 397 Murray St Perth (just down the road from the store). This is a free event, but those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP to: mail@stefensbooks.com.au, via the Facebook event or twitter @stefensbooks  so we can better arrange seating. We’ll also have copies of all three of Dervla‘s books available for sale and will try to arrange some time at the end for those who would like to get copies signed.

Please be aware that Durty Nelly’s is a licensed venue, so under 18’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
