The Very Odd Book Club – January The January Very Odd Book Cub book is A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. Sunday 25th January from 5.00 pm at Durty Nelly’s.

As with the first Tuesday book club, the Very Odd Book Club will also be skipping a month so there will be no event on the last Sunday of December. Instead, our first meeting will be the 25^th of January. The book under discussion will be Anthony Burgess’ A Clockwork Orange. I’ve wanted to do this book for a while and even considered putting it up for the Tuesday book club. I relish the confrontational and transgressive nature of the book and the more I thought about it, the more it seemed that it was a book for the Sunday group. While it’s only a short book, the heavy use of Burgess’ created slang ‘Nadsat’ can make it something of a struggle, although worthwhile in my opinion. Anyway, if you’re up for it you’ve got an extra month to get your rassoodocks around the slovo’s Alex and his malchickiwick droogs use.
