The Martian by Andy Weir

Praised by both NASA and former International Space Station Commander Chris Hadfield for its scientific accuracy, The Martian is a work of very near future science fiction.  After the first manned landing on Mars goes wrong, Astronaut Mark Watney finds himself stranded on the surface of the planet. With only the equipment he brought with him he has to communicate with the rest of the crew who may already believe him dead, and then survive long enough for rescue. If there is one.

I think this book will make an interesting juxtaposition to last month’s book Mission of Gravity. Science in science fiction is much different now than in 1952, and I’m looking forward to peoples reaction to this book.
