Sea of Rust

This is an apocalypse novel with a bit of a twist because you don’t have to wonder whether or not people will survive because everybody’s dead. That doesn’t mean the world is empty however because what it is populated by is city-running artificial intelligences and robots. It makes for an unusual cast of characters, with some interesting motivations. The idea of robots exterminating humanity, or at least trying to, is a familiar one in science fiction but this book takes the idea a little bit further by exploring what happens after the machines win and also exploring the reasons why they would have done so in the first place. It’s a fun read that I think folks will enjoy talking about.
