This is How You Lose the Time War
by Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone

We have done a lot of Hugo Award winning books in the bookclub, and rightly so. This month, it’s a Hugo Award and Nebula Award-winning novella in the form of This is How You Lose the Time War by Max Gladstone and Amal El-Mohtar.  It’s an epistolary time travel romance, and quite complex despite its short length. It is full of references and uses the time travel motif in a variety of very clever and interesting ways. It’s a much lighter and sweeter read than we’ve been doing lately, but I thought for the sake of a bit of variety, we might have some fun with a romance, and a queer romance at that. It is a multi-award winner, as I’ve said, and very much worth reading. I think we’ll have a lot of fun with it.
