The City in the Middle of the Night

Charlie Jane Anders is coming to town, we’re doing a store event, she has a new science fiction book out and loads of readers are talking about it. So I’m doing the obvious thing and setting it as the book club book. Truth be told, since it’s a book that engages with different sorts of societies and identities as well as encounters with the other in the form of aliens, it’s exactly the sort of book we read for the club and was on the list of future reads anyway. By setting it for May, folks who are so inclined can have a chat with the author a couple of weeks before bookclub. Also, at 480 pages it’s a bit longer than most of the books we’ve read recently so factor that into your lead time.

Given that we’ve read several of the books that reviewers have compared this to, as well as Charlie‘s first book All the Birds in the Sky I’m looking forward to a fun and interesting discussion.
