Stefen’s Bookclub – August

Red Moon

I’ve wanted to do a Kim Stanley Robinson book for a while but they’re generally pretty hefty or in multi book series’ and I try to avoid that for bookclub books. However, Red Moon, the most recent release is about the right length and stand-alone. It’s a near-future tale of colonisation of the Moon, but also of people and society. Kim Stanley Robinson is quite famous for weaving science and politics into his books and setting them in the near and possible future.  So what we have here is a really interesting look at not just the technology of Moon colonisation but also the politics that might surround having a quasi-independent space, in space.
